Monthly Essentials: December  2011 – Chloé

Santa baby, been an awful good girl…

This Christmas I’m going for a subtle edgy look. So, no more reindeer sweaters to please the grandmother, but grunge inspired items with a hint of sexiness.

My favourite on this board is the Aubin & Wills cable-knit sweater. The red colour is perfect for this time of the year, but the black wool in between is just what I’m looking for. It gives a bit of toughness to an otherwise good girl sweater.

The skirt from Sandro again has the perfect mix between sweet and edgy. The wool gives it a warm and cosy feeling, while the leather details pump up the volume. The cut is really simple, but being a mini skirt, it’s sexy enough like it is.

To be prepared for the cold weather while wearing a short skirt, I opted for wool-blend tights from Falke. Normally I always go for Wolford when it comes to tights, but the wool-blends from Falke are the best. They sit comfortably and are just warm enough. No icy legs for me.

But covering my legs won’t be enough to face the blistering storms and icy pavements. A belted cape from Vince on the other hand, just might do the trick. The soft texture and warm colour make it the perfect coat for a romantic winter snuggle…

If it would get too hot by the fire (no cute guys at family events to heat me up unfortunately) I can take my cool sweater off and showcase the amazing tank from The row. A personal favourite brand. I kept the tank simple black, because the rest of the outfit already has enough going to stand out.

Who would I be without studded platform sandals? Truth be told, mine are from Zara, but if I smile really friendly towards Santa, wouldn’t he bring me these amazing pair from Yves Saint Laurent? I just can’t stop staring at them. They are so worth heaving achy feet at the end of the night.

To add a bit of sparkle, I chose the OPI nailpolish. This Christmas Collection, their colours have been inspired by The Muppets and I just have to get my hands on this glittery one.

Last but not least, I need some accessories. The glass and coral wrap bracelet by A kind of fine is simple and elegant and the red touch goes amazing with my sweater. Star earrings in my ears by Solange Azagury-Partridge and I’m ready to shine.

It’s Christmas time baby!

Bordeaux Lust is the name of one of Tom Ford’s newest nail polishes and it’s also the theme of this month’s mood board. You want to opt for a colourful ensemble this holiday season but you’re afraid to seem too bold? Then this beautiful wine red colour is the way to go. Bordeaux is sophisticated and chic. Perfect for Christmas and New Year’s Eve if you ask me!

The holiday season is all about more is more and that goes for your hair accessories too. Heads will turn when you’re rocking Jennifer Behr‘s hand-assembled Spiked Metal Orchid Headband which features structured metal detailing and rich gold plating for a chic and subtly edgy look.

Thakoon Addition‘s easy-wearing washed-silk dress is comfortable yet flawless. Complement the rich merlot shade with bold jewelry and black ankle boots for an edgy finish.

What’s a fashionista without one of Yves Saint Laurent‘s Arty rings? This black glass and red enamel-embellished design is the perfect iconic piece to vamp up your outfit.

This season trade your oversized tote for an on-trend clutch, like Anya Hindmarch‘s black Huxley stingray-trimmed leather clutch. Need to go hands free? Carry it using the optional gold-chain shoulder strap.

Take note from our polka dot mood board we posted a while back with these black Wolford Ines pointelle tights. Together with the sleek wine red Thakoon Addition frock it channels playful sophistication, even at the office.

Gold is an undying symbol of luxury. Christian Dior’s 5 Couleurs Gold Edition Eyeshadow Set brings together five shades in perfect harmony: authentic tones such as white gold or fantasy colours like bronze gold, brown gold, silver gold and black gold. Your eyes will burst with radiance!

Jimmy Choo’s Kerfield black suede and mesh ankle boots are the perfect punctuation point to evening looks. For full-on drama, wear them with a sassy cocktail dress and black tights.

Tom Ford’s newest line of extra-amplified, gloss and shine nail lacquer lets you express your mood and complete your look. I especially like the shade Bordeaux Lust which is perfect to go with the rich merlot Thakoon Addition dress.

Lanvin‘s statement gold-tone brass choker with Swarovski crystal embellishment is guaranteed to make your party look pop. Wear this gorgeous piece of jewelry to finish off your party dress for an eclectic evening approach.

This Chanel Ligne Extrême water proof eye liner (31 Encre Noire) is long lasting and easy to apply. The water-resistant formula contains concentrated pigments to draw an even line for an intense look.

But baby it’s cold outside… My monthly essential mood board is anything but grey as the weather is already grey enough!

The By Malene Birger pleated satin-jersey maxi skirt is my absolute favourite on this board. I love skirts, they always look feminine and a maxi skirt is just a bit different. And it’s easy to wear with really thick stockings because no one sees them.

For T-shirts I always try to wear something with a bit of humour, a cute slogan or an amazing picture on it. I do wear plain T-shirts, but that’s when I want to wear a chunky necklace with it, or when something else is already overpowering the picture. This Elizabeth and James  T-shirt is too cute, the sorry we’re drunk line has just the right amount of humour and written in such an elegant way it doesn’t look trashy at all.

Because it’s a maxi skirt, it’s always better to wear heels under them to make yourself look taller. It’s easy to look like a hobo in it. These Brian Atwood ankle boots are perfect for it. Warm and elegant.

Addict for Miu Miu as I am (and Laura too) I just had to add this amazing clutch. Because it’s bit bigger it’s perfect for lunch during the day.

The sweater is an eyecatcher. Sonia Rykiel is amazing with colour and this sweater has everything you could desire from a sweater. It’s colourful, special so you don’t blend into the crowd and it looks amazingly cosy and warm.

The Arielle de Pinto silver bracelet and Nixon watch are the perfect accessories for this look. They add a bit of sparkle and a bit of toughness to a really feminine and colourful silhouette.

To avoid freezing I chose the MIH Jeans leather jacket. Leather jackets always look good and combined with this skirt you get a bit of a tomboy feeling.

To make sure I look as perfect as my outfit, I chose the Chanel eyeshadow, illusion d’ombre. I bought it a few weeks ago for my birthday and now I’m addicted to it.

Arielle de Pinto Rail ribbon sterling silver bracelet, Chanel Eyeshadow Illusion d’ombre, Elizabeth and James Statement slub cotton-jersey T-shirt, Miu Miu Framed nappa leather clutch, Nixon The private canvas and stainless steel watch, Brian Atwood Ami Suede platform ankle boots , Sonia Rykiel Intarsia chunky wool-blend cardigan, By Malene Birger Sensi pleated satin-jersey maxi skirt, MIH Jeans Distressed leather biker jacket.

It’s getting chilly, folks! My monthly essentials mood board is packed with warm colours and stylish pieces to get you through the winter cold. Enjoy!

This Balmain double-breasted shearling coat is just stunning. I love how it’s cosy and warm, but elegant and chic as well. It doesn’t have to be one way or the other. Clothing can be comfortable and fashionable at the same time.

Miuccia Prada is crazy about the fabulous forties, hence her Mad Men-inspired collection for Winter. We saw lots of dresses with flower and bird prints all over. But I decided to keep it simple with a ruched crepe blouse in a terra cotta hue.

A year ago one of Hollywood’s most fashionable celebrities, Kate Bosworth, started a web shop called Jewel Mint along with her stylist Cher Coulter. Their designs are fun and original, and most importantly they’re very affordable. Fellow fashionista’s Sienna Miller and Rachel Bilson have been spotted wearing jewelry by Jewel Mint.

Christian Louboutin‘s label just turned 20 and although I don’t have hundreds of pairs of red soles stacked in my shoe closet like Miss Lively, I’m a big fan of his designs. This peep toe pump in magenta must be the sexiest shoe I’ve ever seen. The python heel is the cherry on the cake.

Maison Martin Margiela is known for its use of clean cuts and shades like black and nudes. But since Diesel’s Renzo Rosso owns the label, you can expect a dash of color here in there. This beige skirt with lilac and blue flowers is the perfect example.

What’s a fashion mood board without Proenza Schouler? After they designed the PS 1 satchel, I didn’t think Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez would ever make such a beautiful bag again. But only a few seasons later, they released the PS 11 bag. And I fell in love, yet again.

Essie’s Fall 2011 nail polish collection is called Carry On, and all six shades are based on the color palette commonly found in midcentury handbag design. I especially like the shade Carry On, which is the mulberry merlot.

Balmain Double-breasted shearling coat, Miu Miu Ruched crepe blouse,Christian Louboutin No. 299 150 suede and python pumps, Maison Martin Margiela Floral-print crepe and wool skirt, Proenza Schouler PS11 Mini Classic textured-leather shoulder bag, Essie Brand New Bag Fall 2011 Carry On.
